Ugh

by tiredboy @ 22 Apr. 2008 - 10:53:21 am

I'm still having serious sleep problems - the one thing I've really not had any success in dealing with. I’ve tried a few melatonin capsules over the past few days, given to me by a friend who swears by them, and have got two good nights, but the others have been lamentable. Will have to go to the docs to talk it through again; I’d like to find a solution which doesn’t require me to take any more pills.

I’m really pleased at how I’ve borne up, considering how bad my sleep has been, but it is amazing just how debilitating a lack of sleep can be.

Just off to the docs now, in fact; I’ve been asked to take a new round of tests in preparation for a referral to the local CFS service here.

Hi TiredBoy, sorry to hear that you haven't been sleeping well. I've had a bad few nights myself and am struggling to cope with the demands of work and a 3 and 1/2 year old! I don't think that medication is always the answer though, in my experience, having had M.E. for 12 years, it is often lifestyle changes that make the difference.

Have you tried meditation? I use the Holosync programme which enables you to meditate deeper than a Zen monk and I find that listening to it for half an hour or an hour before bed makes me sleepy.

Here's to a good night's sleep all round

Take care :)

Hi Fran,

I agree re medication, and only took any after several years trying other solutions without success. Meditation is something I have tried (and have been meaning to write about here), but of a different type to the one you mention (deeper than a Zen monk in under half an hour? Sounds interesting...) and have found it immensely helpful in many ways, including fatigue and sleep. However, since moving, that's one thing I've not managed to get back into regularly. Now I am feeling pretty well, I'm determined that this will change.

Have noticed that you haven't posted for ages and was wondering how you are. Hope it's just work (good to hear that you are able to do this) and daughter that are keeping you from the blog, and not poor health.

cheers
tiredboy
